Providing leadership as the longest serving School Board member

Leslie’s contributions to the Manchester Board of School Committee have helped the district meet challenges and achieved a record of impressive accomplishments for Manchester:

  • Redesign the future of our school buildings to;

    • Remodel all four Middle Schools.

    • Eliminate old schools that no longer serve students and reduce class sizes.

    • Build a new 21st Century High School to serve both Students and the greater community.

  • Updated technology infrastructure and helped families get connected, achieving a 1:1 student to device ratio. Helped families acquire devices and connectivity for home use.

  • Implemented new DISTRICT WIDE K-8 reading and math programs to ensure students have access to the same high-quality curriculum in all schools.

  • Provided ongoing professional development to our teachers and staff.

  • Supported a minimum $15/hr. pay wage for all employees.

  • Supports Student board members.

Looking ahead, as a board we will build on our success with the following initiatives:

  • Finish a new master plan for school buildings with a focus on 21st century learning and small class sizes.

  • Comprehensive Guidance programming that will help ALL students navigate school and career opportunities.

  • A Competency Based educational model, allowing students more individual flexibility to advance or fill gaps.

  • More college credit courses available at our high schools to help students get a head start on their post-secondary goals.

  • Greater accountability through measurable achievable goal setting for both the administration and the School Board.
